How do I get a Library card?

-Must be in-person at the library.

-Be at least 16 years or older.

-A child under the age of 16 must have a completed Application Form signed by a parent or legal guardian.

-Have a valid and current Minnesota Drivers License or State ID.

How long can I keep my materials?

All loan periods are set by the lending library. In general, we try to allow:

• at least 3 weeks for books

• at least 7 days for Movies (DVDs) and other media items

Please check in the library catalog or contact your library to determine its specific due date.

May I borrow materials not found at the Winthrop Public Library?

Patrons looking for materials should first use the TdS Encore catalog. Encore is a shared catalog of 34 libraries that provides borrowers access to an extensive collection of resources. The catalog may be used in the library, at home, or at work. There are several ways to borrow books outside of your library. Please check with a librarian if you cannot find a book that you want.

May I return items checked out in Winthrop at another Public Library?

YES you may! Items checked out from any Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative location may be returned to any of its libraries. Items may be returned in person or through a book drop.

May I return items after hours?

YES you may! Items may be placed in the book drop located on the west side of the building

Exception: Items marked as too fragile or too large for the book return must be returned when the library is open.
